Request for Grant Proposals 2010-2011 School Year

South Kingstown Education Foundation (SKEF) is now accepting applications for Grant Awards for the 2010-2011 school year!

SKEF grants are awarded annually to parents, teachers, students, and community members to support innovative educational projects in our South Kingstown schools. In June 2009, SKEF awarded over $12,000 in grants; and since SKEF’s inception in 2003, approximately 60 grants have been awarded.

Project Criteria
To be considered for a SKEF grant, projects must meet the following broad criteria. Projects should:
• be innovative and attempt to further excellence in the South Kingstown public schools, or should help to strengthen the relationship between the South Kingstown public schools and the community at large.
• initiate efforts not already funded or expected to be funded as part of the South Kingstown annual school budget.
• not have as their focus the purchase of capital assets (machines, furniture, etc.).
• not include expenditures for personal stipends or transportation.
• have a reasonable expectation of success.
• SKEF Grant Awards typically do not exceed $1,000.
Grant applications are available at every South Kingstown public school, at the SK School Administration Building, and on the SKEF website.
